Let me just start by saying that I’m happily married with four wonderful children. I just thought I’d lay that groundwork for any ladies who were smitten by my photo over there. My wife and I co-pastor a small church, which as you can imagine is always an adventure. But my story is rather more than meets the eye.

I grew up in the church but rejected a future in ministry because of the great lack of math and science in pastoral work and instead became an engineer. I worked for NASA for a while at Johnson Space Center designing hardware for the space shuttle. That is when God called me into ministry. So I picked up my family and moved across the country for four years of seminary. Since then I have been pastoring. I have degrees in Physics, Engineering and Theology. I ask hard questions and easy answers don’t do it for me. I seek to understand how things work and why the world is the way it is. This is my everlasting quest.

Also, I hold a 5th degree black belt in traditional tae kwon do, I love to read, and building Lego alone while listening to progressive rock is nearly sacramental for me.

I am Tyler’s older and much wiser sister.  We started this website because I told him to. (No joke.) I am married and have three children.  We live in a small town in Kansas and absolutely love it. I am an elementary science teacher and my husband runs seventeen-ish small businesses. I am an enneagram 6 and will always be able to tell you the worst case scenario in any given situation, just in case you’re curious. (Please don’t pinch your fingers when you close your laptop!) In fact, if I had a podcast, it would be titled, “On the Other Hand…” For some reason, I have always liked to bring up the other perspective. And maybe that is partly why this work is so important to me.

Books are an obsession of mine and they have been a lifeline for me during years of wrestling and struggling in my faith. I haven’t always found easy answers--but my view of who God is has grown so much through the questioning.

If I had to outline a perfect day, it would involve a walk in the prairie, a book, lots of coffee, and a huge thunderstorm (maybe not all at the same). Watching storm clouds billow and grow feels like worship to me! I’ve learned to see God’s fingerprints all over His creation and my deep passion is for others to see that, too.
